We are happy to announce an update of our free converter. Here's what have changed:

Major:
- redesigned the app to be more lightweight and usable
- added currency exchange rates automatic update on converter launch
Minor:
- fixed bug which caused initial last currency exchange rates update date to be replaced by the date of first app launch
- fixed issue with unwanted tab bar selections

Apple says GlobeMaster is HOT so we go 2.0!

We are very happy and proud to spread the news that starting on Dec 22 GlobeMaster is listed by Apple in "What's Hot" section of the App Store's main page.

On the occasion we have also decided to make an announcement of the next major release being developed at the moment. 2.0 version of GlobeMaster converts the app to a travel toolbox (9 apps in 1), introduces new design and a lot of new features additions both within new sub apps and the ones the app had built in previously. This update will be free.

Another thing we feel we must admit is that there is some kind of travel DB corruption in GlobeMaster's version 1.2 currently available for download that causes app to crash when user browses to cities category of one of the countries (Egypt). We're terribly sorry for this and ask our users to be patient and wait for the next release, which is going to be huge. And which of course will fix this bug (actually it is already fixed in the development version).

We thank our users for feedback and promise to do our best to deliver 2.0 ASAP.

New version of GlobeMaster was approved on the iTunes Store. Here's what's new:

- added new Travel Alerts functionality

- fixed bugs

UPDATE:
After update there were cases when application crashed (judging by crash reports it happened 5 times or so). To work around this problem reinstall the application.
There is also one problem in converter - temperature conversion doesn't work properly.
New version of GlobeMaster with these problems resolved was submitted on the same day the current one was out.
Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience - the fix is on the go.

Globe... what? What are you talking about?
GlobeMaster! This is how we named the first application we've developed for iPhone. A short description could be found in the right column of the blog and a full one on the app's iTunes Store page or our site.

OK, understood... And who are these "we", you are talking about all the time?
"We" are Ivan Karpan, developer, and Evgeniy Lebed, user interface designer. Both of us live in Kyiv, Ukraine.

So how long did it take to create GlobeMaster? Was it hard?
Well the whole process started something about 5 months ago. At that time we had everything we needed to create an application: good idea, huge desire, strong aspiration and loads of work ahead of us. And when we say "lots" we mean it because non of us was even acquainted with iPhone SDK and Cocoa Touch and we had no information to fill the app with. Plus during development both app and data mining bot were totally rewritten a few times. So yeah, we think it was kind of hard. So when it came to overriding UIPicker control to make it...

Hey, stop! I just tried to be polite and you don't have to get that deep into it, really! Maybe next time... So what's next? Any plans?
Yes of course. We're thinking about adding new features to GlobeMaster real soon and in the meanwhile... It looks like we have another idea.
